Namaste! We are a group of certified teachers and students in Vancouver practicing yoga in the tradition of Yasodhara Ashram, founded by Swami Sivananda Radha in 1963.
Yasodhara spiritual practices can help you increase self-awareness, experience greater well-being and live in alignment with your ideals.

If you are in the Vancouver area and want to learn more about our community and how to attend the events below, please contact us. If you would like to speak to one of us on the phone, let us know in your e-mail and we will happily arrange a call with you!

WEEKLY SATSANGS

Satsang, often translated as “In the company of the wise” is a time where we gather together in community, whether online or in-person. Spiritual practices, uplifting bhajans (devotional music) and inspiring words are shared.
We currently have two Satsang offerings. There is no charge to attend.

  • Fridays 7:30-8:30 p.m. (Online)
  • Sundays 7:30-8:30 p.m. (Online and In-person)

WEEKLY HIDDEN LANGUAGE & HATHA YOGA

Hidden Language Hatha Yoga takes Hatha Yoga beyond a series of physical exercises. It is a gentle and meditative practice that works with metaphor, symbolism, imagery and visualization to reveal the ‘hidden’ messages of each asana.

Join us online Sundays from 5-6 p.m. Most weeks will offer Hidden Language Hatha Yoga, some weeks will offer Hatha Yoga.

Suggested contribution: $10 to $20 per class. Nobody will be turned away for lack of funds.

MEET YOUR TEACHERS

Lisa Sars

Lisa entered into Yasodhara Teachings in 2011 at a Rose Ceremony held at the Radha Yoga & Eatery in Vancouver, BC. The heartfelt devotion of the ritual blossomed into a lifelong love of the Teachings, with an affinity for the art of reflection.

A mother of two living in the city, she made time for her commitment to evolve, taking all of the teacher trainings and returning to the Ashram yearly. In her work as an education assistant with over a decade experience in the Arts, she tends to the relationship between practicality and profundity.

Noémie Derungs

Noémie first came to Yasodhara Ashram in the summer of 2012 as a European traveller in Canada in search of a different, inward exploration.

The Ashram’s teachings and community offered her the gift of a lifetime as a young woman, deepening her sense of self and expanding the awareness of her mind and body.

She took the YDC and the Hatha Yoga teacher trainings in 2013 and was certified as a Hidden Language teacher in 2023.

Eva Snyder

Eva came to the Ashram in 2011 as a Karma yogi and stayed on for 1.5 years, completing the YDC in 2012. Her love of the teachings and the Ashram are best summarized in her key phrase for her 2012 book reflections — interconnection.

She finds inspiration in the connections between Swami Radha’s faith teachings, all traditional faith teachings, and science; the way that all can contribute to ways of navigating information and finding wisdom and meaning in life.

She is currently writing her PhD dissertation at the University of British Columbia on mycorrhizal fungal connections in Western redcedar communities and the implications for forest energy flow and resilience. She returns to the Ashram regularly to re-charge, re-fill, and re-enlighten and is honored to call this place her spiritual home.
